From Pain to Possibility: The Mission Behind My Travels

Hi, I’m Idalien. And if you’re reading this, chances are, you understand what it means to live with neuropathy and or chronic pain.

The daily struggles, the frustration, the invisible battle that most people don’t see—I know it because I live it. I know what it’s like to feel trapped in a body that won’t cooperate, wondering if life will ever feel free again. Not to mention that society is not built for people like us. You're an outsider, whether you like it or not.

How It All Started

After my car accident and the many years of recovery that followed, I was left with neuropathy. I still don't fully know how to best deal with it. But who does? It is so unpredictable and good vs bad days are just the norm. It has been an ongoing inner battle of acceptance, moving forward and regaining control over my life.

The Old Me Is Gone

The old me is gone. I had to lead her to die with all her crazy hobbies, sports adventures and ongoing energy. Sometimes, I think back to my beach horse rides, endless driving in my Volvo S40 on the African roads, swimming in the ocean, or running for five minutes straight. I sometimes dream about it—dwelling on what it once was. Quickly, I wake up, though; there is no time to dream, not to talk about this. I embrace reality and the brutality that comes with it. This is me now. Physically weak but mentally stronger than ever.

That’s why I started Cold Country Traveling 2025—not just as a travel adventure but as a movement—a way to show that even with neuropathy, we can reclaim our independence, build remote careers on our own terms, and create lives filled with purpose and possibility.

Why Cold Countries? Why Neuropathy Freedom? Why Now?

I’ve always had a complicated relationship with the cold, even before my neuropathy. I never liked it. I escaped my cold home country at a young age, and many years in Africa, Australia, and other sunny parts of the world followed. However, my car accident changed that all and brought me back into the cold. Was it meant to be? So, if I can face my biggest challenge head-on and keep moving forward, I may help others do the same. Maybe I can show that even in the harshest conditions, we can find strength, freedom, and a way forward.

Because I am so done with being labelled as a "chronic pain patient" and automatically having to sit on the sideline, watching life pass by.

The Neuropathy Freedom Blueprint: Turning Pain Into Possibility

At the heart of this journey is The Neuropathy Freedom Blueprint, a 1-month coaching program designed to help neuropathy & Chronic Pain warriors rebuild their life, health, and remote career on their own terms. Because I know firsthand how it feels to be trapped, desperate for change but unsure how to start. I've been there! And I refuse to let anyone else feel like they’re alone in this.

The Roadmap for the Next 8 Months

🌍 Building a Platform: Creating a space where neuropathy warriors can find real support, practical steps, and a community that actually understands what they’re going through.

🎯 1-Month Coaching Trajects: Offering personalized coaching to help people shift from feeling stuck to taking action, using remote work as a tool to regain control over their lives.

🤝 Collaborations: Connect with outdoor brands, neuropathy specialists, and industry experts to bring awareness, resources, and the right gear to those who need it most.

🎥 Storytelling & Awareness: Sharing every moment—the struggles, the breakthroughs, the lessons—so that others can see that they’re not alone in this fight.

This isn’t just an adventure. It’s personal. It’s about freedom, resilience, and proving that even in the coldest places, we can create warmth through community and purpose.
